Popularity of New Batman Movies

August 6th, 2008

The Batman series has gotten incredibly popular due to this summer’s blockbuster hit. Do you know the history of Batman movies? There are actually seven Batman movies (not counting cartoons). Here is a bit of history on them, in order from their release date.

The first Batman was made in 1966. Batman was played by Adam West. Directed by Leslie Martinson, this started the Batman movie trend. The next Batman, also called ‘Batman’, was directed by Tim Burton in 1989. Michael Keaton played Batman, while Jack Nicholson played the Joker. Batman Returns was the second Batman movie directed by Tim Burton, also known as Batman 2. Michael Keaton returned to play Batman, with Danny DeVito and Michelle Pfeiffer playing Penguin and Catwoman, respectively.

The next movie in the Batman saga was Batman Forever, made in 1995. Also known as Batman 3, Val Kilmer played the hero in this movie. This film was directed by Joel Schumacher. Batman and Robin was the next in the film’s sequence. George Clooney and Chris O’Donnell played Batman and Robin, while Arnold Schwarzenegger played Mr. Freeze, the villain. Uma Thurman also played Poison Ivy. Batman Begins started a new legacy in the Batman Series. Christian Bale plays Batman and Katie Holmes plays his ex-girlfriend.

This was released in 2005 and was directed by Christopher Nolan. The most recent movie, The Dark Knight, was released in July 2008. This film made $158 million dollars opening weekend and is poised to become one of the best selling movies of all time. Compared to the Titanic for its overwhelming opening weekend, Christian Bale is back to play Batman, with Heath Ledger playing The Joker and Aaron Eckhart playing Harvey Dent. This is a brief history of the Batman series. All of them have fared well, with almost all of them receiving an Oscar nomination.

What Are the Names of the Batman Movies? How many batman movies are there?

August 2nd, 2008

Well, let me see. According to what I could find on the inter net, there are seven American made movies, alone, unless you want to count the series of Batman serial movies made in 1943 starring Lewis Wilson as Batman. There were also six TV movies or serials. There are also twelve international movies (mostly from the Philippines). Let us also not forget one Catwoman movie starring Halle Berry that was made in America. I can give a breakdown of the American Batman movies for you and who played their roles. I hope this is the information that you are looking for. Here is a list of Batman movies that I can find: “Batman The Movie,” (1966) starring Adam West. (Now there’s a surprise.) “Batman” (1989) movie. This movie starred Michael Keaton. “Batman Returns” (1992) movie. This movie once again starred Michael Keaton. “Batman Forever” (1995) movie. This movie starred Val Kilmer as Batman (Gag.) “Batman & Robin” (1997) movie. This movie starred George Clooney for us older folks and Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze. Not a bad movie, actually. “Batman Begins” (2005) movie. This movie starred Christian Bale. “The Dark Knight” (2008) movie. This recently released movie also stars Christian Bale. It seems to me that the world will always need it’s super heroes. These Batman movies originally started from a comic strip in 1939 by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, although it was Bob Kane who seemed to get all the credit. Most of us are well acquainted with Bruce Wayne, the rich philanthropist who saw his parents being killed and as an adult turned into the alter ego of Batman who fought for justice against arch enemies and criminals. He didn’t need or want his identity known. Now where is a good man when you want one?

What are the names of the Batman Movies Batman became a popular character soon after his introduction. In the early stages, the character was iconic only in print. Later, a TV show, was produced as well. As time passed, differing takes on the comic book superhero character developed and many visions of the popular Batman comic have been realized in full length films. Some good, some not so much, but all of them entertaining to Batman fans! So, just how many batman movies are there? It started with the original TV series with a film named “Batman: The Movie”, directed by Leslie H. Martinson. In the 1980’s an explosive revival of the comic franchise took place and a new era of full-length feature film versions of Batman emerged. What are the names of the batman movies that became so popular overnight? Well, first of all, it wasn’t exactly overnight success. For nearly seven years, producers, actors, and directors weren’t quite sure how to adapt the concept of a Batman movie into a reality. The idea passed through several hands of weary naysayers and passed up by several major studios. Tim Burton was ultimately selected to direct after a skeptical Warner Brothers finally agreed to finance the film. The film was a smashing success which ignited the ongoing series of full-length features. Here is a list of batman movies: Batman: The Movie (1966) Batman (1989) Batman Returns (1992) Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993) (animated) Batman Forever (1995) Batman & Robin (1997) Batman Begins (2005) The Dark Knight (2008) Some might also include the stand-alone “Catwoman” from 2004, a character inspired by the Batman comics. There is no definitive word yet on whether a future Batman movie will be made by the most recent director, Christopher Nolan. Speculators elude that it is very likely and many of the leading actors have suggested they would return. Hopefully, we’ll have another movie to add to our list!

The Dark Knight is Coming

July 15th, 2008

This has been possibly the most anticipated movie all year, as well as possibly the most advertised. In the recent weeks it has been increasing levels not quite those that were done by Fox with the Simpsons Movie, but the cross promotion for the new Batman move seems to know no bounds. Domino’s Pizza and The Dark Knight have come together in one of the largest cross promotions ever between a movie and a pizza company, not only offering completly custom boxes but a whole range of commercials. But thats nothing, the list of promotional offers through cross promotions issuing deals with companies such as, Nokia, Hershey, General Mills, Comcast, California Milk Processor, and Giorgio Armani.

While not all of the companies offers were accepted, many of them were. This is just one more sign of how big of a movie The Dark Knight is going to be. When big powerhouse companies are not only willing to get involved but lining up for offers, you know the movie is going to be something that attracts the attention of America and blows up the box offices.
